For our next book club, we are excited to announce that we will be covering There Is No Antimemetics Division, a novel that asks serious questions about memory and the way we share information, but it is so action-packed that you might develop whiplash while trying to answer them. You are probably familiar with memes, but their opposite, or “antimemes,” are ideas that are literally unthinkable: impossible to record and impossible to remember. The idea that we could be visited by aliens is enthralling; the idea that they already live among us, eating our memories so that we can’t remember them, is psychologically terrifying. It is this concept which gives the dazzling debut novel by Sam Hughes its oomph. Have we piqued your interest? Join either! Due to demand, we’ll be holding two book clubs for the novel, one on Thursday, August 20th, and one on Friday, the 21st.
Tickets for Thursday August 20th @ 20h30 can be acquired here.
Tickets for Friday August 21st @ 20h30 can be acquired here.
